At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.
In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.
Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Endoscopist or Trainee Clinical Endoscopist to join our team within the endoscopy units at East Sussex Healthcare Hospitals. Both units are fully JAG accredited and are screening centres for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has been awarded funding to build a digestive diseases diagnostic centre that will provide an additional 4 endoscopy rooms as well as introduce transformative diagnostic testing. This is due to open in July 2025.
We are therefore seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and enthusiastic clinical endoscopist who wants to join our friendly teams to support the continued development of the endoscopy service across our three sites. Clinical endoscopists should be adept at lower and upper GI endoscopy procedures but we do have a very good record of training and support in endoscopy, should the successful candidate wish to develop their skills further.
Main duties of the job
Within this role you will be one of a team who are committed to improving the patient pathway to promote and deliver high standards of patient care, outcomes, experience, safety and quality.
The successful applicant will be a JAG accredited endoscopist with significant experience of undertaking independent endoscopy procedures. The role will require working unsupervised as an expert practitioner, performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RN 1st level current NMC Registration or Registration with other professional body
- Post graduate Qualification or equivalent skills in specialist field of practice
- JAG accredited endoscopy training supported by relevant academic qualification
- Evidence of on-going CPD in specialist area of practice to masters equivalent level
Desirable criteria
- Research experience
- Experience in training Endoscopy trainees
- Masters Degree relevant to nursing practice
- Nurse Prescribing
Experience
Essential criteria
- Autonomous practitioner with nurse endoscopist experience of carrying out diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy
- Evidence of an ability to prioritise workload for themselves and their team
- Experience in change and project management
- Significant experience in leading audits
