In the summer of 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ (BFF) programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to redevelop and expand our hospitals at Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.
In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.
Job overview
The overall purpose of the role is to deliver education and training to staff including competency based medical device programmes in line with the Medical Devices Training policy.

Main duties of the job
To deliver training and education to all clinical staff including Registered Nurses & Midwives, Healthcare Assistants, Allied Healthcare Practitioners and medical students on medical devices within the Trust and specifically oxygen and infusion devices. Assist with the development and evaluation of training programmes and competencies and the teaching resources including the Medical Devices web pages, in order to maintain high quality, learner focused training in the Trust. Provide highly specialised advice and support to clinical staff at all levels in matters relating to medical equipment and patient safety. Provide training and advice for staff at ward level where appropriate including travel or commuting to other sites within ESHT Develop and maintain links with Community teams, practice educators and Key Trainers to address equipment loans, align training and competency requirements. Provide specialised advice and support to clinical staff at all levels in matters relating to medical equipment and patient safety Support the Medical Devices Training Manager and Head of Clinical Engineering in the investigation of clinical incidents relating to medical devices as requested, providing timely and accurate reports as required. Assist with the risk assessment of new and existing medical devices Carry out audits in line with Trust policy and in response to clinical/adverse incidents.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree level qualification in Clinical Nursing or healthcare science (medical device) professional qualification,
- Demonstrate ongoing training to ensure that relevant theoretical knowledge has been continually updated, CPD to post-graduate diploma equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Relevant teaching qualification or equivalent proven experience.
- Willingness to work towards a teaching qualification.
Experience
Essential criteria
- A significant amount of post registration or equivalent nursing experience
- Knowledge and experience in the use of medical equipment i.e. infusion pumps, patient monitoring
- Good understanding of risk management and clinical governance
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in different clinical areas of the NHS
- Previous experience in delivering education and training to multi-professional group
