We are looking for a motivated nurse with a professional outlook to join our team in the Main Haemodialysis Unit.
We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, hard-working individual with substantial post registration experience combined with strong interpersonal and care-management skills, to join our friendly team.
This post will be suitable for a dynamic, enthusiastic, hard-working individual with experience of working in an acute hospital trust who has an interest in this specialist area or is looking to expand their existing knowledge and skills.
We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.
Main duties of the job
The Sussex Kidney Unit is a state of the art purpose-built unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, and provides a comprehensive range of acute and chronic renal services. The department is located in Brighton and is the hub for renal services in Sussex. You will work within a specialised area, providing high quality care to patients with acute and chronic renal failure. We are open Monday to Saturday- 06:30-22:30 and providing Haemodialysis to 220 patients per week.
Ideally the candidate would possess renal experience and/or the renal course. Those without a renal background can take advantage of our in house training in the form of unit competencies/ mentoring and the Renal Development Programme study days organised by our Renal Clinical Educator. The unit utilises information technology extensively and IT skills would be advantageous.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Working within the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure high quality standards of research based care are maintained and Renal Association / Renal National Service Framework guidelines are met
- To act as resource for University Hospital Sussex NHS Foundation Trust staff with regard to renal patient care.
- Be capable and willing to do staff rota, ensuring correct staffing levels and skill mix
- Develops role of clinical team leader
- Coordinates shifts
- Ensures stock levels are maintained and orders stock as required
- Is prepared to undertake link nurse responsibilities.
