Job overview
We are looking for a dynamic midwife to lead and co-ordinate high quality, personalised, person centred care for young parents under the care of the Enhanced Continuity of Carer team model.
The successful candidate will provide advocacy to young parents aiming to minimise the effects of potential social exclusion and maximise opportunities for access to maternity care and other associated services as required.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide effective leadership and manage staff within the team to ensure the service is running effectively and efficiently to deliver an enhanced care pathway from referral to 28 days postnatal.
The post holder will ideally work 0.3wte as a band 6 midwife within the team and will work clinically as required, (including being on call to ensure service is covered up to 5 nights per month) without supervision, and in a flexible way, across community and hospital boundaries, according to workload requirements.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Midwifery Qualification and current NMC registration
- Evidence of continued professional development to degree / diploma level plus preceptorship
- Management training / evidence of previous management responsibility
Desirable criteria
- Teaching and Assessing / mentoring qualification
- Professional Midwifery Advocate
- Counselling qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Practicing midwifery for 3 years
- Experienced in all areas of midwifery and able to demonstrate and provide evidence of midwifery experience
- Experience of working in the Community
- Experience of Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
Desirable criteria
- Project/change management work
- Management of child safeguarding issues
Skills
Essential criteria
- Evidence of appropriate clinical range and level of midwifery skills .e.g. antenatal, labour and postnatal care including suturing, cannulation, neonatal and adult resuscitation
- Motivated and able to teach students and junior staff
Desirable criteria
- Experience as a Lead/Link Midwife
- Experience of resource management.
