Job overview

An new opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 CAMHS Nurse, to join the  Community Getting more help Team in Easington CAMHS.

Easington CAMHS are a small team, who love to work together to support the needs of children young people and their families. 

This post is being advertised as a permanent position. 

Following a period of service development,  we are proud that every member of staff has a manageable caseload.  We support one another at every opportunity and no one is ever alone with their decisions. Supervision is available regularly and actively encouraged .

As a CAMHS clinician you will be involved in providing mental health support and advice to children and young people. You will work collaboratively within the local team, whilst working with other CAMHS teams and many external providers.  You will support group work, and offer one to one sessions.

This really is a varied role, in a friendly team where you will be able to develop skills and experience of working with children and young people. 

Nursing applicants should already hold NMC registration. Please note: Newly qualified Nurses or those due to qualify will be recruited via a separate process.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the mental health difficulties experienced by children and young people, and have an understanding of the therapies and other interventions used in treatment. Knowledge and understanding of common Neurodevelopmental conditions such as ASC and ADHD, and how these are assessed and treated, is also a requirement of the post; as is the ability to recognise and manage common physical health complications experienced by children and young people experiencing Mental Health and Neurodevelopmental difficulties. 

The successful applicant will be involved in continuous service development, and will work closely with external and internal agencies to review, improve, and deliver services to the community. There is also a requirement to maintain high standards of personal and professional development, and the successful applicant will be expected to train in a specialist modality of therapeutic intervention following their successful preceptorship period.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be qualified as a NMC Registered Nurse from either the Mental Health, Children's, or Learning Disability specialisms.

We would welcome applications from RNMH, RNLD, RSCN or RGN who hold current professional registration with NMC.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD (RNSC – CAMHS only ) – RGN (If appropriate)
  • To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale
  • Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
  • Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice
  • Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
  • Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working with people with mental ill health / learning disabilities
  • Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation
  • Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team
