Trosolwg o'r swydd

The Intensive Positive Behaviour Support (IPBS) Team works with children and young people between the ages of 4-18 with a learning disability and or autism where the behaviour that challenges occurs as a result of the young person having limited abilities to communicate distress, and get their needs met in more adaptive ways.

The increase in a child’s distress may place them at risk of hospital admission or a breakdown in their living arrangements either within the family home or a placement.  In the event of this an IPBS approach would be considered at this stage.

IPBS creates a benefit to the locality CAMHS teams through enhanced advice and support to existing community teams, whilst also carrying out direct intensive work.  The team hold a small caseload, so they are able to support the young person and the system around them e.g. family, education, social care, using an intensive model for assessment and understand the young person’s needs, and deliver focused interventions to improve their overall quality of life. Assessment of a young persons presentation follows a positive behaviour support, multi element approach.  Often this consists of direct observations or engagement with the young person, functional assessments of distress behaviours with the young person if appropriate, family and other provisions they may access e.g. school, respite.
