Children's Nurses welcome to apply - CAMHS only 

CAMHs - Learning Disabilities Tees have a vacancy at Baysdale Respite Service in Middlesbrough for a Registered Staff Nurse.  Baysdale respite provides care to children with profound and multiple learning disabilities, secondary physical complexities, behaviours that challenge and autism. The service runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week and nights and weekends are an expectation of the role. The role will involve supporting with personal care needs, administering medication, the assessment and monitoring of physical/mental health issues and liaising with other professionals around any concerns. This role involves a lot of physical health monitoring, for our children with complex physical comorbidities. A background in physical health monitoring and clinical skills is desirable, however training can be offered to those not skilled once in post.

The successful applicants will be an effective communicator and demonstrate passion, promoting quality of life and independence. Leadership, delegation and the use of own initiative are also essential aspects of the role. This is a very rewarding role in a well-established team, and also part of a well-established family group that access the service.

You will need excellent communication skills and be calm, confident and resilient in your approach. You will need to be able to form therapeutic relationships with people with learning disabilities.

  • Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD (RNSC – CAMHS only ) – RGN (If appropriate – Advert must indicate if the role is open to RGN nurses to apply)
  • To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale
  • Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Experience

  • Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
  • Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
