Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic Staff Nurse to join the progressive and dedicated Ward 12 Elective Surgery team at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital!
You will be responsible for admitting and preparing patients for theatre ensuring that local policy is adhered to, caring for patients post-operatively and discharging patients under the nurse-led discharge criteria. Once in post, you will be a key member in the development and expansion of the Day Surgery Service with the aim of enhancing the patient’s experience.
The ideal candidate will require experience within general surgical i.e. Gynaecology, Vascular, Urology, Breast and Endocrine surgery, Upper GI and Colorectal; have excellent communication skills and a commitment to maintaining and developing high standards of care. A friendly and patient-centred approach is vital to this exciting role.
This role requires NMC Registration

- Degree or working towards a management qualification
Experience

- Demonstrable experience working in Day Surgery/Surgery/Orthopaedics
Desirable criteria
- Experience of recovery and pre assessment
Technical Skills and Competencies
Essential criteria
- In depth knowledge of speciality
- Problem solving experience
- Ability to make sound clinical judgements and use sound clinical reasoning.
Desirable criteria
- Venepuncture & punctuation.
- Catheterisation
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Sound knowledge of anatomy and physiology and surgical procedures
- Evidence of professional development
