Job overview
The Ophthalmic Theatre is looking for a Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker who want to make a difference and become part of a highly motivated team. We will consider applications for full time with a commitment to our out of hours on call service, which is part of the role.
If you are a dynamic, hard-working, flexible worker and able to work under pressure, use your own initiative and are a team player with good communication skills. Then this could be the post for you!
You must have good verbal communication skills, able to prioritize workloads, work independently as well as working as part of a well-established team, and believe in delivering high standards of patient care.
Main duties of the job
The job involves preparation of the theatre, ensuring the cleanliness of the environment and equipment, working in the theatre environment, and supporting qualified staff to provide excellent care to all patients. Good communication skills and a willingness to learn are essential.
This role also involves transiting patients from theatre to Eye Surgery unit.

The Ophthalmic theatre team are hardworking specialists providing quality safe care for patients. We pride ourselves in our education system with mentors, education lead and pathways
Job Includes:
- Communicate with patients and members of staff, including managers, nurses, ODPs, support and medical staff to ensure the continuity of patient care
- To co-operate with other departments in procedures carried out in the operating department
- Follow Health and Safety regulations in order to maintain a safe working environment
- Awareness of cost implications and the effective use of resources
- To assist in the induction of new members of staff and students to the department
