Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, versatile and caring person to join the Nuclear Medicine Team in the Radiology Department at Torbay Hospital.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who would like to work with patients in a busy Hospital Department. The role includes supporting preparation of radiopharmaceuticals for patient examinations, supporting patients and staff during injection of radiopharmaceuticals and subsequent examinations and also involves maintaining and monitoring of the laboratory environment.
You will need to be flexible in your approach to this challenging and sometimes demanding role.
This full time post role is based in Torbay Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Your duties will include:
- assisting patients during all parts of their visit to the department
- supporting the clinical staff in carrying out injections and examinations
- preparation of examination rooms and the radiopharmacy laboratory
- preparation of radiopharmaceuticals and associated processes
- transport of patients
- participation in clerical duties
You will be expected to train and become competent in the insertion and removal of intravenous cannulas.
You should have a good standard of general education and have good IT skills. Prior care experience may be useful but not essential, depending on other relevant work history.
Working for our organisation
If successful, you will work in the Nuclear Medicine Department working alongside Radiographers, Technologists, Nurses and Consultant Radiologists. You will carry out a varied range of tasks helping to deliver a high quality care. The key parts of this role are direct support for patients during their visit to our department and management of cleaning, monitoring and stock management within the radiopharmacy laboratory
