Job overview

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for patient care and operational excellence? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where every day brings new challenges? If you’re ready to take the next step in your career and play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding healthcare, this role is for you!

At HUC, we’re on a mission to provide exceptional patient care through innovative and compassionate services. We’re looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Workforce Manager to lead our 111 Clinical Assessment Services (CAS) in the South West region, ensuring our clinicians deliver the highest standards of care in line with national and organisational goals.

As our Clinical Workforce Manager, you will hold operational responsibility for the effective delivery of our CAS, overseeing the recruitment, development, and management of our clinical team (excluding GPs). You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth service operations, meet performance targets, and drive continuous improvement to provide the best care for our patients.

You’ll be more than just a manager – you’ll be a key player in delivering high-quality healthcare. This role offers exciting challenges, the opportunity to develop new skills, and the chance to lead a team that makes a real difference. Your enthusiasm, leadership, and dedication will drive our success, and in return, you’ll gain invaluable experience and opportunities for growth.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will be responsible for:

•    Operational Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the CAS in the South West region, ensuring our service meets and exceeds national key performance indicators and contractual standards.

•    Hands-On Leadership: Be a visible and hands-on leader, providing real-time support to clinicians and collaborating with other Clinical Workforce Managers to solve daily challenges.

•    Performance & Quality: Drive performance by conducting regular appraisals, audits, and feedback sessions with the clinical team. You’ll ensure the highest standards of care and identify opportunities for improvement.

•    Continuous Improvement: Lead and inspire a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll play a pivotal role in transforming and developing the service, finding innovative solutions to improve patient care and experience.

•    Team Management: Use your experience in clinical leadership to manage, mentor, and support the CAS clinical workforce, helping to recruit, induct, and develop new talent.

•    Clinical Expertise: Bring your professional clinical registration and experience as a nurse or paramedic (ideally in remote triage or contact centre environments) to understand the needs of your team and ensure the highest quality of care is delivered to every patient.

  • Annual leave allowance – 28 days (including public holidays), increasing with service
