This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Professional Healthcare Education as a Clinical Educator specialising in Medical Device and Medical Gas education.
This post will provide the successful applicant the opportunity to develop their existing skills and acquire new set of skills as a Band 6 Clinical Educator. You should have a wide range of clinical skills and an interest in teaching, training and supporting staff to be the best for patients.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
Main duties of the job
To support the Operational Lead Resuscitation Services to deliver the medical device / medical gas education and training programmes across the organisation.
To support the development of medical device competencies and to ensure medical device practice is compliant with national standards, regulations and governance.
To support the Operational Lead Resuscitation Services to implement and audit the Trust’s Medical Devices Training Policy.
To support the Moving and Handling lead for medical device education and equipment audit.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· To support key clinical work-based learning for medical devices and medical gases
· To support and work collaboratively with Clinical Educators and Medical Device Link Practitioners who are based within Service Lines, ensuring clinical areas are meeting and demonstrating their competence in relation to the Care Quality Commission (CQC) outcomes and NHSLA Standards.
· Ensure a robust and accurate means of documentation and record keeping of clinical training and competence is maintained across the organisation to provide evidence of compliance with NHSLA and CQC standards.
· Support the Operational Lead Resuscitation Services to develop clinical competencies in relation to medical devices / gases ensuring there is a standardised approach across the organisation.
· To actively encourage the development of the department through a planned educational training programme, with the incorporation of research into practice.
· Ensure the effective promotion of clinical supervision in order that the workforce works within parameters of legislation, policies and procedure
Support the delivery of a training strategy for medical devices /gases ensuring that clinical training and competence is recorded and monitored through eQUIP, Workforce and OD Systems.
· Work closely with Moving and Handling lead and Resuscitation colleagues to ensure high risk devices involved in training are suitable for use.
· To be an active member of NAMDET and represent the trust at national meetings.
· To be an active member of Medical Device Steering Group and Medical Gas Action Group.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Post Graduate Certificate in Education or willing to work towards
- Training/education qualification (e.g. Certificate / Diploma in Education) Or demonstrable experience
- Professional registration (i.e. RGN/HPC)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of learning and developing projects within a large organisation
- Experience of working in a National Health Service provider unit
- Prioritisation skills with ability to manage multiple strands of work
- Research/audit experience
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
