An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered general nurse to join our newly located and expanding Medical Same Day Emergency Care (MSDEC) as part of the senior nursing team. 

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone to join a highly diverse and changing department. 

The Unit offers same day care to patients without the need of admission, giving us the opportunity to better manage patients flow, improve patient experience and reduce acute hospital admissions.

We see a large variety of acute medical conditions including chest pain, DVT, PE, cellulitis, COPD and many more.

Serving the wider population we receive, assess and treat patients from the Emergency Department, outpatient clinics, hospital ward areas and direct GP/ Ambulance referrals.

We are a small team of sisters/charge nurses, registered nurses, clinical support workers and health Care Assistants. . We work closely alongside our core team of doctors.

The unit also houses are hospitals Deep Vein Thrombosis clinic. As a sister/charge nurse you will be trained and supported to transition into a confident practitioner with the ability to assess, refer and advise best treatment plans for your patients.

We require a strong visible leader to support the Senior Sister with the ongoing development and transformation of our services and staff.    

Shifts include a combination of:

8:30 - 21:00, 9:30 - 22:00, 10:30 - 23: 00         Monday - Friday

8:30 - 21:00 Weekends

As a band 6 Sister/Charge nurse you must have excellent communication skill, organisational skills and be able to lead a team.

You will take charge of the department on a regular basis and ensure the department is managed efficiently, and concerns or problems escalated appropriately and timely to ensure the patient’s journey is safe and efficient.

You will have to be able to coordinate your team to manage the demand on the service and respond to changing circumstances without delay.
