An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 Mental Health Nurses  to join the busy and dynamic Derby City OA CMHT on a permanent basis.   

We are looking for clinicians who have a specific interest and passion for the care of older adults.

The team provides assessment, treatment and care for patients who experience organic and/or functional illnesses, as well as support to their carers.

The role of a Registered Nurse can be challenging and varied with the management of a caseload, which will include patients with both functional and organic diagnosis.

You are likely to support patients by administering depots, monitoring medications, providing support from various psychological approaches, and supporting people to access services or support in the community.

The role also involves attending CST meetings within local GP surgeries, MDT meetings, supporting students and nursing assistants, as well as the wider team. 

The wider team is very supportive and nurturing, and there will be opportunity to shadow nurses and OTs in their daily duties in order to expand your knowledge and skills - for example, shadowing duty or an initial assessment. 

The successful candidate will need excellent communication skills, the ability to complete safety assessments, be able to produce person-centred care plans and work within the CPA framework.

Derby City OA CMHT is a friendly and dynamic team of experienced staff.

The successful candidate will receive clinical and management supervision on a regular basis, and will be supported to develop personally and professionally. 

  • Carrying a caseload
  • Working with service users with a functional/ organic illness and formulating care plans in the diverse area on Derby City
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary setting
  • Support medication initiation, titration and reduction
  • Be passionate about working with older adults

  • Evidence of service receiver and carer involvement activity
  • Commitment to client recovery and person-centred practice
  • Understanding of Nursing Professional Code of Conduct, revalidation and core skills, and their application in practice
  • Experience of clinical supervision
  • Awareness of professional and ethical issues
  • Awareness of Clinical Governance
