Job overview

We are excited to offer this opportunity to an experienced band 5 Staff Nurse within Same day Emergency care for Medicine. The Staff nurse will join a team of SDEC Clinical Nurse specialists, staff nurses and health care assistants to support a rapidly changing service. The appointed candidate will be supported by all members of the team and the Department Leader.

Main duties of the job

·         Ensure the journey of the patient and the care they receive is pinnacle to what we do.

·         Ensure that we utilise the service and see a range of different patients.

·         Work collaboratively with the front door and community services to ensure patients are directed to the area where is best suited for their care.

·         To be aware of what Same Day Emergency Care is and the purpose surrounding it.

·         To have experience in Acute medicine/Emergency care or knowledge about.

·         To be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced area.

·         To always maintain patient confidentiality.

·         To be aware of different pathways we use within the service.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • 1st Level RGN
  • Demonstrable post registration professional development in general medicine
  • 998 or other recognised teaching course
Desirable criteria
  • Diploma Degree
  • ALS course
  • Recognised leadership development programme attendance
  • Minor Illness qualification or willing to work towards

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience at band 5 in specialty or relevant experience (Acute medicine/Emergency Care)
Desirable criteria

  • Experience in similar role
