The Discharge Lounge Ward leader role is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate.
- You will lead an enthusiastic and passionate team to deliver a high level of care to patients awaiting discharge from the Acute Trust.

Responsible for providing strong, effective leadership coupled with a solid sense of commitment to delivering excellent nursing care and patient experience on the Discharge Lounge, and to ensure the improvement and sustainability of the quality of care indicators for this specific cohort of patients.
- The Discharge Lounge team Contributes to the delivery of outstanding patient care and contributes to Patient flow throughout the Trust. Building relationships with our inpatient area teams, medical and surgical teams and external providers help ensure patients leave safely from the discharge lounges.
Main duties of the job
Work within the Discharge lounge and acute care leadership team alongside consultant colleagues, to facilitate the safe discharge of patients who come through the lounge. Ensuring that discharge process are safely and effectively managed for patients in the discharge lounge. Supporting patient with medications while in the lounge and providing extended service of last dose IV antibiotics.
Work collaboratively with the Senior Matron, and Ward Sisters to ensure the directorate is effectively and efficiently managed.
Assist the Senior Matron to monitor and provide adequate nurse staffing levels to maintain service delivery throughout the year, including participating in the re-deployment of staff across wards and departments.
Take delegated lead for specific projects aimed at supporting and/or developing service delivery within your ward area.
Support the Senior Matron in providing effective leadership to ensure implementation of the trust quality strategy and nursing strategy
Deputise for the Senior Matron during periods of planned/unplanned absences.
Take a lead role in developing health professional led initiatives in collaboration with the whole multidisciplinary team.
