Job overview
We are very excited to be advertising a therapy assistant post for the South lakes Rapid Response service to support the new 2 hour urgent community response mandate across our South Lakes locality. As an experienced team we provide appropriate urgent interventions to individuals in the community who are acutely unwell and at risk of hospital admission.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work within a very supportive and varied multi professional community team. As a team we are keen to support the development of our staff.
Main duties of the job
As a therapy assistant within the team you will work closely within a multi professional team of nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, assistant practitioners and other therapy assistants supporting the implementation of a range of delegated interventions and supporting activities of daily living.
Your work will be essential and hugely rewarding as you support our vulnerable and frail population to remain in their own homes with care support and therapy programmes. You will make a huge difference to people's lives when they are presenting at their most vulnerable.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
