This is an exciting opportunity to join the antenatal and newborn screening team based within University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay.
To undertake professional and clinical responsibility for the operational management and development of the service.
Responsible for ensuring that the programme meets national Key Performance Indicators and acts promptly and appropriately should there be any deviation from the national targets.
Responsible for planning clinical cover for the programme to ensure that maximum coverage is achieved at all times and KPI targets are met.
To undertake audit and development as and when required as part of the service delivery and development and the National Training Programme for the OSCE Qualification and National Screening Qualification.
The post holder will work with the service leads in Audiology on identifying and implementing service delivery strategies that maintain and innovate provision within the service.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a multidisciplinary team of professionals and service users, including parents, sometimes in highly emotive situations, is essential. Be a qualified hearing screener.
Have a full understanding of the Screening process and undertake hearing screening on a regular basis and as and when required to.
· Remain fully competent in the practicalities of the screening process by attending and participating in national training and information events.
· Maintain experience and skills in the care and handling of newborn babies both with/without special care.
· Assess screener competency.
· Undertake the necessary training and attain the qualification to become a screening assessor/verifier in order to support the screening team through their required training.
· Ensure that all babies born within UHMBT, including home births and also babies transferred in from other areas are offered the hearing screen.
· Monitor the national hearing screening database for transfers and shares on a daily basis to ensure that records are updated in a timely manner and screens and onward referral to diagnostic audiology are completed within the required timescales to meets KPI’s.
· Monitor babies who are transferred out of local area and liaise with other NHSP and Audiology colleagues to request that wherever possible these babies receive their hearing screen at their new site.

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
