Job overview

Band 3 Radiology Assistant, up to 50.25 hours available, full or part time, permanent 

The role of the radiology Assistant is to support the work of Radiologists, Radiographers and Sonographers, providing services 24/7 over 365 days per annum.  Applicants must be flexible, able to demonstrate excellent organisational and prioritising skills, use your own initiative and be confident to discuss new ways of working to improve efficiency of the service.

The successful applicants must be prepared to work flexible hours according to the service needs (shift rota) including nights, evenings, weekends, bank holidays and rotate to community sites.

The work involves a wide variety of duties, including patient care, portering, image handling, clerical work and use of computers. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to work directly with patients and support the radiology team in providing high quality diagnostic imaging.

This position in the Directorate of Radiology offers the opportunity to be part of a growing, vibrant team, providing safe and effective diagnostic imaging to the people of North Cumbria and working to bring about dynamic change in patient care.

Main duties of the job

Perform a supporting role under direct supervision of qualified staff, working in clinical and office areas, assisting the Radiographers, Sonographers and Consultant Radiologists (including speciality doctors) within the busy Radiology department with patient, equipment and environment care, patient transfer, with some reception, telephone and medical records handling, use of computers and data input duties. Liaise with NHS professionals, support staff and the general public to ensure an efficient service.

Qualifications

  • Vocational (NVQ) qualifications level 3 in care or equivalent
