How would you like to shape the future of nursing across North Cumbria?  This post will give you that opportunity.  Emergency Care Collaborative and Speciality Medicine Collaborative at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Trust have been recruiting nursing staff from across the globe to join our teams here in Carlisle and Whitehaven, we have also been recruiting local people into roles where the opportunity to develop is amazing.  This  Clinical Skills role was created in order to provide support to our newly Qualified Nurses, our International Recruits, our Healthcare Assistants who are working towards  Nursing Associate roles or even Registered Nurse.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Skills Lead  will provide education, training, support  and development to staff in line with the agreed training and education priorities set at Care Group and ward/dept. level and in response to identified needs of team/individual.

The Clinical Skills Lead will be key in the development of a sustainable workforce and will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of learning resources and training programmes/events for the back of house areas within the care group. The role will have a particular emphasis on the development and promotion of clinical skills training, preceptorship and apprenticeships and practice development to ensure staff are able to deliver outstanding care to patients and maintain safe working practices.  The clinical skills lead will have close links with the similar roles within EAU and ED teams.

The Clinical Skills Lead will design and develop programmes to support newly qualified/new into post professionals transition from student to qualified practitioner and establish support for those completing Care Certificate, staff who are advancing into Band 4 roles and subsequently then into RN posts.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject area e.g. Education, Healthcare or Social Science
  • Recognised training or teaching qualification or equivalent experience
  • Current Health or Social Care Professional Qualification and registration on the appropriate clinical register
  • Masters level study in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Coaching or mentoring qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Masters degree

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a clinical environment across a range of different settings
  • Experience of designing, delivering and evaluating learning programmes for diverse staff groups
  • Evidence of developing training packages (online and/or face to face)
  • Experience of working with groups and individuals from all backgrounds, across all disciplines in a variety of roles and settings
  • Experience of supporting learners and providing guidance to staff and managers regarding learning
  • Knowledge of professional requirements related to supporting learners in practice e.g. from NMC and HCPC or other professional bodies
