This exciting post will start in our new sate of the art vibrant Endoscopy Unit at CIC which has five treatment rooms
You will assist in the daily management and organisation of the Endoscopy Unit on a seven day basis ensuring that the care delivered is safe, compassionate and appropriate to meet the needs of the patient group. You will contribute and commit to promoting a positive team based attitude, striving for the highest standards of care and achieving excellence, through continued development and compassion.
You will actively engage and train other members of your team, and when instructed you will support senior management in the effective running of the clinical area, creating an environment which allows you're team to maximise their ability.
You will be responsible for many aspects of staff management to include staff development, assessment of competence and compliance with all HR policies and guidelines. Senior support will be provided at all times and it is expected that you will complete a Leadership programme to develop and enhance your confidence and ability.
This is a challenging but very rewarding role and the development opportunities are fantastic. The post involves seven day working plus bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
- To prioritise and deliver general and holistic nursing care and assessment as needed for both out patients and in patients in need of endoscopy related services.
- To demonstrate high standards of care and set examples of best practice within the delivery of patient care.
- To ensure patients' safety, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times and raise any issues of concern relating to this.
- To support the Ward Manager of the unit and the coordinators and service managers to deliver and maintain the highest standards of care and liaise with other departments and professionals to ensure that the needs of the unit patients are met.
- Following appropriate development to take charge of the Unit and oversee patient safety and flow and ensure the effective running of the unit and monitor care delivered by other staff. You will also be mentored to lead in all areas of Endoscopy within a timescale that is realistic and achievable.
- You will be in charge on a weekend emergency list. Roughly one in four per month.
- You will be in charge on bank holidays to support the Endoscopy nurses and support workers to provide an emergency service for cross site patients.
- You will lead on protected staff training days on a regular basis.
- You will be dynamic, motivational and professional at all times when working within the team.
- You will approach senior team with ideas, changes and innovative practice that will improve patient care.

Please note the cost of the DBS check is increasing from 2nd December and the new cost will be
Standard DBS check £21.50, Enhanced DBS check £49.50 + any admin costs.
