37.5 Hours per week

The post will include working weekends and nights.

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical support worker higher level to work on Romanby ward at the Friarage Hospital.

The post holder will work 11.5 hour shifts which will include work at weekends and nights.

Romanby ward is a medical ward which cares for patients with varied needs ranging from acute illness management, chronic disease management, palliative care and the complexities of discharge processes.

As a  Clinical support worker higher level , you will work together with a registered nurse to provide nursing care for an allocated group of patients. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated person who is  committed to delivering a high quality of individualised patient centred care in a caring and compassionate manner.

Experience of working in health or social care is essential and also have experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalation of changes or findings.

The successful applicant will be expected to have already completed the Care Certificate course aswell as having Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 qualifications (GCSE A-C equivalent).

The successful applicants will receive a 2 week induction period depending on experience.

The post holders with participate in on-going personal development.

The successful candidate may  undertake any or all of the following clinical or therapeutic activities:

• taking blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, level of alertness and  completion of NEWS
• blood glucose
• observing patients for signs of agitation or distress
• wound observations, simple wound dressings
• venepuncture
• removal of peripheral cannula
• urinalysis, removal of catheter
• weight and height
• record patient observations
• other tests if competent.

  • Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; - Theoretical knowledge - Experience of a range of care and related procedures - clinical observations - knowledge of relevant legislation
