We are delighted to be able to offer a position of Hybrid Theatre B7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse/Principal ODP at the James Cook University Hospital, the largest hospital in the Tees Valley. The operating department has 17 main theatres, 3 day case theatres & provides staffing for 2 obstetric theatres.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who would like to develop further in Nurse/ODP leadership, work with dynamic teams and improve the patient experience within our theatre department and services supported by theatres. The department’s attendance of adult and paediatric surgical patients is approximately 43,895 per year.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and a desire to provide first class service for our patients and clinical teams. You will be self-motivated, well-organised and able to manage competing priorities. Your leadership style will support the on-going development of staff and the service model through transformational change.
The post holder will be expected to have 24 hour responsibility for the Neuro, Spine, Neuro Interventional Radiology & Mechanical Thrombectomy theatre service. You will have the ability to engage clinically with all members of the multi-disciplinary team. You will have in depth proven clinical knowledge guiding the nursing & ODP team to work within this framework. You will be expected to provide expertise and leadership working clinical 50% of your working hours. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills, along with the ability to sensitively manage change. Experience of elements of the management role such as e-rostering and delivering on patient quality and safety initiatives will support your application. You will be able to demonstrate how you support the delivery of the organisations quality and safety agenda.

Essential criteria
- Current NMC Registration or HCPC qualification
- BSc in Adult nursing/ODP
- Degree/ Diploma & specialist training to Master’s level
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience working as a Band 6 RN/ODP in an acute hospital setting.
- Evidence and experience of positive leadership skills
Knowledge & Skills
