EYE DAY UNIT THEATRES.

Awarded diamond accreditation by STAQC , we are looking for a Scrub Practitioner or Operating Department Practitioner with suitable theatre experience or willing to learn the role to work within our busy Eye Day unit Department.

Main duties of the job

Whilst delivering a busy elective programme, we also provide a trauma and On-Call service of our ophthalmology patients. We are committed to staff development and ensure that staff are trained across all sub specialities to ensure we are able to deliver safe and effective care to all.

The successful applicant will be providing  a high-quality service and level of skilled care that is safe and efficient. To assist all surgeons providing surgical procedure either as scrub nurse or runner as required. Eye Day Unit is reliant on our clinical staff who deliver exceptional care; care that is more than Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. Care that is patient centred, evidence based, given by talented, well trained, motivated, thoughtful and compassionate individuals working together as a supportive team

After you complete these three and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We also offer further in-house courses and bitesize programmes through our Leadership and Improvement Team.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • • Registered Nurse with NMC or ODP with HCPC
  • • Nursing Degree/Diploma or ODP qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in working ophthalmic theatres
  • • Experience working within an acute or community setting
  • Experience of Multidisciplinary working

  • • Experience in the theatre environment.
  • • Attendance at the leadership and development and improvement programme (4.5 days)

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effectively prioritises and coordinates own work.
  • Good information technology skills.
  • Commitment to the needs of the service including a flexible and adaptable approach in the work environment/ work practices.
