Job overview

Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon qualifications.

To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team demonstrating a range of nursing skills to meet the needs of the patient in a safe, caring environment that promotes dignity, privacy, and respect under appropriate supervision a registered nurse. 

The post holder will work with nursing assistants, clerical support and support the training of student nurses and volunteers.

Demonstrates the Trust Values and Behaviours and the Trust Code of Conduct and the nursing and midwifery 6C’s at all times acting in the best interests of patients and treating everyone with dignity and respect.

Main duties of the job

The post holder has a duty of care to patients and is expected to comply fully with all Trust policies in particular policies relating too personal and patient safety and the prevention of healthcare associated infections.  As a Trust employee you will honour your work commitments, be reliable, trustworthy and uphold values and beliefs of the Trust.

The post holder will be expected to develop knowledge and skills within the specialty and will assist in the management and delivery of compassionate, high quality patient care.

Qualifications Band 3

Essential criteria
  • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2
  • Care certificate
  • Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; - Theoretical knowledge - Experience of a range of care and related procedures - clinical observations - knowledge of relevant legislation

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and active listening skills. Ability to adopt appropriate styles and methods of communication.
  • Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems.
  • Analytical and judgement skills to make decisions based on patient / service user interactions and observations and metrics.

Qualifications Band 2

Essential criteria
  • Must complete the care certificate within the 6 months probationary period and ‘on the job training’; instruction will be provided – this is an NHS entry level requirement.
