An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Colorectal Specialist Nurse’s to join the colorectal nursing team within DDUGS Collaborative. South Tees NHS Foundation Trust are committed to learning and education. We have a dedicated team through our academic centre (STRIVE) for your Continuous Professional Development.
The Colorectal Nursing team is an integral provision within the Digestive Diseases, Urology and General Surgery Services Collaborative and provide support to patients and their families who have a colorectal cancer diagnosis.
The speciality is focused on high quality patient’s centred care, ensuring that the patient is supported continuously through diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care.
The team within this service work efficiently and effectively to support patients and their families through their colorectal cancer journey.
The colorectal nursing team is part of the wider cancer nursing service alongside working with other services both within the organisation and externally.
The strategic goals of the team are centred on a positive patient journey and experience which is pivotal in minimising risk and reducing harm. The colorectal nursing team are high performing and deliver organisational requirements of a well led service.

We are looking for talented, motivated professional senior nurse. Who has colorectal experience and can demonstrate strong leadership and managerial skills within this clinical setting.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme, and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. This programme aims to:

- Develop your Leadership effectiveness and skills
- Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role
After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.

Education
Essential criteria
- NMC level 1 registration
- • 1st degree
- • Specialist qualification in cancer care
- • Mentor Qualification
- • Advanced communications skills course or willing to undertake
- • Clinical Skills qualification or willingness to undertake
Desirable criteria
- Masters degree or willingness to study to Masters level
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Substantial experience which should be at a senior grade within a colorectal or cancer setting
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of working in the Colorectal specialty or related specialties
