An exciting 10 month secondment opportunity to join a team of Nursing and AHP educators  within the Trust as a Palliative Care Clinical Educator.  Working directly with the Lead Nurse for Cancer and Palliative Care and the Nursing Midwifery and Education Lead.

The successful candidate will utilise their current experience to develop and lead clinical, virtual and classroom education in relation to the care of the patient with palliative care needs.  .

The post holder will support with the development of a portfolio of education related to palliative care. 

The post holder will ensure the delivery of palliative care education complements existing education programmes to provide an evidence based education portfolio for the Trust.

They will guide health care staff development and acquisition of knowledge and skills to support the palliative care patient across all areas of care.   

The post holder will act as a clinical and professional role model to maintain and develop exceptional standards of clinical care. Working alongside other specialities and professional groups  there will be an expectation to promote and foster a culture of education and clinical development within the workforce.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will demonstrate the knowledge and skills of a competent Palliative Care practitioner and will:

Lead on the delivery of inter-professional education to ensure staff proficiency in care of the patient with palliative care needs.  .

Organise, develop and lead the delivery of clinical training programmes to meet the learning needs of the clinical workforce

Maintain and develop clinical expertise to act as an expert resource to colleagues by guiding practice development and education delivery

Work clinically with staff in the wards and departments to improve their assessment and management of Palliative Care Patients

Work collaboratively with the Lead Nurse for Cancer and Palliative Care and Clinical Educators to deliver inter-professional point of care teaching programmes to enhance patient care to all disciplines of healthcare staff.

The post holder will promote a proactive approach to education, learning and maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice at South Tees NHS Hospitals trust.
