Job overview

Due to retirement the opportunity has arisen for the redevelopment of this team, therefore we a looking for highly motivated individuals to join our Neonatal outreach team and be part of its development and expansion of the service.

Candidates must have current experience of caring for neonates in a hospital or community environment and must be QIS trained in speciality. These posts offer a fantastic opportunity to utilise and develop your knowledge and skills in caring for babies in the home setting.

To be able to cover a 6-day service, there will be several working patterns and hours available. For the right individual there may the opportunity for a hybrid role as a Neonatal sister and Neonatal outreach nurse.

Main duties of the job

Band 6 neonatal nurses based at WHH are required to promote safe, early discharge of babies from the neonatal unit, transitional care and the postnatal ward. Families will be supported by providing ongoing care needs in the home environment, for example , management of oxygen in the home environment, low birth weight infants, support with feeding etc.

We take great pride in delivering high standards of care to our local neonatal population and are excited to create a robust service to support vulnerable neonates on discharge from the neonatal service.

These posts will support in planning the care and transition from the 
neonatal unit, transitional care and paediatrics through a structured discharge process, promoting safe early discharge from hospital to home. You will liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary 
team and support parents in providing high quality care in the home environment.


Candidates will be expected to undertake a regular clinical shift on the Neonatal unit.

  • Registered nurse RN (C)/RN(A)
  • Degree or working towards
  • Qualified in specialty (Neonates)
  • NLS certificate

  • BSc hons in community nursing

Experience

  • Significant experience in clinical practice on a neonatal unit.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
