Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse with experience in caring for acute adult patients within General Medicine at East Cheshire NHS Trust. The post holder will be required to support and work alongside other senior team members, ensuring effective clinical skills and knowledge are maintained at all times, acting as a role model demonstrating effective leadership whilst deputizing for the Senior Sister as required.

We are looking for someone who really wants to make a difference to our patients experience and who is keen to broaden their knowledge and skills.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse is to support, contribute to and assist the Band 7 Senior Sister in the leadership and the management of the Ward 2 Team and to take a lead responsibility for the development, monitoring and implementation of high quality, evidence-based clinical care to ensure continuity of service provision and standards are maintained and improved.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current first level NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration in General / Adult nursing
  • Evidence of post basic training / qualifications and experience at Band 5
  • Acute Care skills course eg ILS (Intermediate Life Support), ALERT (Acute Life Threating Events Recognition and Treatment)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as a staff nurse and can demonstrate clinical credibility.
  • Experience of mentoring and educating junior members of staff
  • Experience of using a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in implementing improvements in practice/protocol or procedures.
  • Experience in designing and delivering education to junior colleagues

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Acute care nursing
  • Demonstrates a high standard of clinical practice in appropriate field.
