The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2024/2025 and will be implemented in November 2024 backdated to 1st April 2024 where applicable.

Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our supportive and skilled Nursing team in: Pre-operative Assessment, Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest.
We are looking for a Nurse that is passionate & motivated about delivering the best care possible, who have excellent communication skills and are willing to work as part of a committed and skilled multi-disciplinary team.
The ability to travel between sites may be required.
Main duties of the job
The Pre-assessment services on the 4 acute sites are essential to ensure patients are seen and reviewed prior to receiving surgical care, and the peri-operative experience is safe and high quality. The nursing staff deploy a combination of telephone and face-to-face pre-operative assessments for both day case and inpatient surgery.
If you are motivated and keen to learn, this is the post for you. The team are friendly, supportive and focused on providing safe care for patients undergoing elective surgery.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- RGN with relevant post registration experience
- Mentorship/Preceptorship qualification or equivalent
- BLS trained
- Knowledge of current pre-assessment services and national guidelines
- Understanding of Clinical Governance
- Understanding of Quality improvement
Desirable criteria
- Surgical or Orthopaedic relevant courses
- Immediate life support
- Clinical examination course or willing to work towards
- Chest auscultation skills
- Advanced clinical skills
- Able to undertake/interpret ECG recordings or willing to work towards
- Leadership qualification or willing to work towards
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant surgical/orthopaedic/anaesthetic experience
- Proficient clinician
- Well developed clinical skills
- Previous evidence of audit and research
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of pre-operative assessment or Day Surgery
- Experience in clinical examination skills
Language Skills
Desirable criteria
- Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
