Job overview

Ward 4 is a 22 bedded general surgery ward with a co-located surgical assessment unit.

We care for a vast array of surgical conditions inclusive of emergency and elective surgery patients. 

We are a warm, friendly multidisciplinary team of professionals who work closely together to provide high quality, holistic driven, evidence-based care to all our patients. We have a structured team base ethos. We are proud of our workforce and value the contribution our staff make to our patients and the organisation.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and forward-thinking. Motivated with excellent communication and leadership skills and will be able to support the Senior Sister and Multidisciplinary team in providing patient centred, high standards of care, and efficient safe management of patients.

The applicant should be able to demonstrate the use of evidence-based practice, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with a readiness to innovate and develop nursing within a team approach. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse (Part 1)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Pertinent postgraduate diploma (or equivalent development/experience and a willingness to undertake appropriate post graduate diploma level study)
  • Bronze IQT
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Recognised management qualification

Language Skills

Experience

  • Appropriate experience within specialty and able to demonstrate sound knowledge of relevant specialty
