Children's Community Nurse with Integrated Community Nursing Service

We have an opportunity for Band 5  Children's Nurse, Learning Disability Nurse,  or Adult  Nurse (with relevant experience/ transferable skills ) who pride themselves in providing care of the highest quality with a family centred approach to join our team.

The Integrated Children's Community Nursing Service is a large and established team of Nurses and Health Care Support Workers, caring for children and young people within Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.

The work is varied and offers a wide range of experiences in the delivery of care to children/ young people with acute, chronic, complex and palliative care needs within the family home or alternative community setting. The nursing team is therefore pivotal to service development initiatives in meeting the needs of children cared for at home today and in the future.

Additionally the team provides care and support for children/ young people with learning disabilities and those with challenging behaviour.

 Plans for our own ICCNS Respite Centre are currently under discussion

The successful candidate will be encouraged to undertake the Fundamentals of Community Children's Nursing module

With annualised hours and contracts starting at 20 hours per week, this post offers the opportunity of flexible working.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

As part of the ICCNS, you'll have the opportunity to help make a difference to families who receive continuing care (respite) from our amazing team.  

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the wide range of clinical, interpersonal and professional skills required for this type of post which includes both autonomy and team working. In return we will be able to offer excellent training opportunities and the chance to work across the full range of community nursing services including mainstream and special schools, providing variety and job satisfaction. Care is delivered across a variety of shifts & settings, including weekdays, week-nights and weekends, so flexibility in working pattern is essential. The team delivers care to children with very complex and additional health needs, including children and young people with tracheostomies and those who require long term home ventilation.

You will also demonstrate, teach and supervise the nursing care which families can safely assume, enabling them to carry out the recommended treatment. Provide a high standard of nursing care to patients in their own home or other place of residence. Also, you will participate in the learning programme of allocated students and newly appointed staff.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
