Job overview

The Division of Surgery is seeking an individual who drives high standards of performance. You will lead by example and have excellent communication and organisation skills. You will be enthusiastic and motivated and will enjoy working in a fast paced ever changing environment. The Divisional Lead for Capacity and Flow will have overall responsibility for the planning, organisation and support of actions to manage the flow of patients through the surgical bed base across all sites to safe discharge home, supporting the delivery of national emergency and planned care standards. This post is expected to work in cooperation with site managers and patient co-ordinators. Facilitate and actively participate in the effective and efficient management of patient flow, ensuring clinical risk factors remain low.

Main duties of the job

To respond to site management issues and ensure actions are clear and reviewed for delivery. To produce the weekend plan in collaboration with relevant colleagues.

Education

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification
  • Evidence of Continual Professional Development (CPD)
  • Specialist experience &/or post graduate qualification
  • Management experience and qualification
  • Qualified/working towards Masters level or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Proven track record in leadership and management
  • Experience of working across the surgical emergency pathways

Knowledge

  • Understanding of the complex dynamics of a multi-professional environment
