Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate for this position is a highly motivated, flexible, dynamic, caring, and experienced Registered Nurse. You should possess strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively. In this role, you will assist in the day-to-day management of the ward and support the Ward Manager in all aspects of team management and skill development.

You will receive full support from the matron, ward manager, and fellow Band 6 nurses who work closely with the team, fostering the highest standards of nursing care. We are committed to creating a friendly and supportive environment where continuous learning and mutual support are paramount.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RN Adult or equivalent with current NMC registration
  • Teaching/Mentoring qualification
  • Demonstrable evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Senior Nurse Competency Pack

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent experience working at Band 5 within specialty in an acute setting with the ability to demonstrate up-to-date evidenced based practice
  • Experience mentoring and/or teaching
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing people
  • Experience of managing difficult situations

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of NMC codes
  • Demonstrative knowledge of clinical governance framework
  • Understanding of infection prevention and control and evidence of application
  • Knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974

Key Skills

Essential criteria
  • Previous Orthopaedic knowledge & skills
  • A team player able to work well with others & demonstrate commitment to team objectives and changes in practice
