Health Apprenticeship Assessor - Peterborough

Band 6

Job overview

We are looking for a registered professional with a passion for teaching and the development of unregistered staff.  As part of our in-house Apprenticeship Team, you will be supporting our Trust’s HCAs to achieve Level 3 Health apprenticeships, delivering clinical workshops and teaching and assessing patient care on various clinical areas.  You will manage your own caseload of learners, providing them with support and encouragement, and clear guidance and feedback on how to achieve their qualifications by their funding deadlines.  Holding a recognised vocational assessor qualification is desirable but not essential as full training and support will be given to achieve this if not already held.

As a team we work cross site, managing own diary and working mostly office hours but following a flexible and agile working model.  This is a great opportunity to become more involved and influence how the Trust values and retains our HCA workforce, as well as ensuring excellent standards of patient care.

This is an essential post for HCA development in clinical practice and a fundamental requirement of the role is consistent and effective role-modelling of excellent patient care.  You must be a registered Nurse with a passion for nurturing and teaching, consistent strong values, be able to influence change through persistence, diplomacy and vision.

Main duties of the job

  • To assess Health Apprentices against National Standards using efficient and current assessment practices to ensure achievement and improve standards of patient care
  • Deliver education programmes providing underpinning knowledge and practical skills to Health Apprentices
  • Promote and develop the value of Apprenticeships for Health Care Support Workers and and raise any issues concerning clinical practice to appropriate managers

Working for our organisation

We are dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusivity within our workforce and warmly welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, with a particular emphasis on encouraging those from disabled, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, as well as candidates from our local area.

As part of our commitment to supporting our employees we offer a range of benefits including:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement starting at 27 days and increasing to 29 days after five years of service and 33 days after 10 years of service, in addition to the national Bank Holidays (pro-rata for part time staff);
  • Membership of the NHS Pension Scheme:
  • Flexible working opportunities;
  • Enhanced hourly rates for unsociable hours e.g. night shifts, weekends, bank holidays;
  • Opportunities for career development and training to help you progress in your role;
  • Wellbeing support and activities to promote a healthy work environment;
  • Access to our in-house physiotherapy service;
  • On-site canteens offering subsidised meals;
  • Subsidised staff parking (currently free);
  • Free Stagecoach Bus Travel to and from work within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

We strive to create a supportive and inclusive workplace where employees feel valued and empowered to excel in their roles.  Join us and become part of a team dedicated to making a positive difference in our community.
