Job overview
To provide a specialist nursing contribution to the clinical management of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), working autonomously and in collaboration with multidisciplinary professionals ensuring the IBD service maintains a consistent high standard contributing to the improved outcomes for patients with IBD.

Main duties of the job
To perform at specialist enhanced practitioner level, facilitating early assessment, supporting diagnosis and prompt treatment of patients presenting to North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust with IBD to facilitate care provision within the inpatient/outpatient setting, admission avoidance, timely discharge and ensure that management is in line with evidence based guidelines. The main responsibilities of the role will be related to clinical expertise within IBD, with an emphasis on initiating, performing and maintaining standards of clinical excellence. The overriding purpose is to support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Registered Nurse
- • Educated to Degree level
Desirable criteria
- • Evidence of recent speciality related learning
Experience

- • Demonstrate experience at a band 6 or Senior Band 5 level
- • Evidence of mentorship/teaching experience
Knowledge
Desirable criteria
- • Working knowledge of patient administration systems
