The Coronary Care Unit and Cardiac Unit at Peterborough City Hospital work together to provide a dynamic, fast-paced and supportive environment for a wide range of cardiac patients. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated registered nurse to join our friendly and skilled team, where you’ll be part of a collaborative environment focused on delivering exceptional patient care.

Eligibility:
We are only accepting applications from those with a live NMC registration or UK nursing students awaiting their PIN, as we are unable to support OSCE candidates at this time.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high-quality care to patients in the Coronary Care and Cardiac Units.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal care for cardiac patients.
  • Participate in ongoing learning and development through our In-house Cardiology Education Programme.
  • Assist in managing the unit's daily operations and contribute to a positive team culture.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registered Nurse

Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of teaching junior staff
  • Experience of supporting/mentoring junior staff
  • Experience of shift management in the absence of senior colleagues
  • Experience of audit processes.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of nursing care delivery
Desirable criteria
  • Management of acute Cardiology patients
  • Understanding of discharge planning

Key Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care
  • Problem solving skills
Desirable criteria
  • IV medication administration
  • Peripheral cannulation skills
  • ECG recording and interpretation

Other

Essential criteria
  • Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs
  • Able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trusts Values and Behaviours
