Are you an experienced Registered Nurse with a background in Outpatient care?  Do you bring a proactive, forward-thinking attitude to delivering exceptional service for our patients?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Staff Nurse to join our outpatient team.

You will be working in a team primarily based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital covering a variety of specialties including ENT, plastics, Urology, General Medicine / Surgical clinics and minor surgery.

Please note, we are only able to accept applications from those with a live NMC pin or UK Nursing Students awaiting their pin. We are unable to support OSCE at this time.

  • The hours of work are flexible around the needs of the service between 8.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m., Monday to Friday but may include weekend work as required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Maintain clinical credibility to act as a role model and take a lead role in the patient’s journey.
  • Deliver high quality evidence based care.
  • Take responsibility for the day to day management of a team of staff
  • Ensure that patient care remains a priority in the inter-professional environment of the Outpatient Department.
  • Be professionally accountable for your actions and omissions.
  • Share best practice with colleagues and the wider MDT
  • Ensure practice is continually reviewed and developed, in liaison with the OPD Manager, Deputy Sister, Matron and Practice Development team.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Registered Nurse
  • • Educated to GCSE level standard incl. Maths and English
  • • Mentorship Pathway or Equivalent (997/998)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • 12 months post qualification experience in Hospital or Primary Care
Desirable criteria
  • • Previous Outpatient Clinic Experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • • Knowledge and understanding of Clinical Governance
  • • Knowledge of current clinical evidence based practice
  • • Knowledge of current professional issues related to nursing
Desirable criteria
  • • NHS Outpatient Services

Key Skills

Essential criteria
  • • Ability to operate effectively as part of a team
  • • Ability to act as a role model and mentor
  • • Ability to use of IT patient tracking and administration systems
  • • Motivated and enthusiastic with ability to meet set targets, often working under pressure
