We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated person to join the Anticoagulation Team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust – based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, but covering at Peterborough City Hospital as required.

Main duties of the job

This post will be working indirectly with the Haematology Consultants and directly with the  Lead Nurse - Anticoagulation and VTE Prevention. The job holder will be  responsible for the day to day management and organisation of both inpatient and outpatient anticoagulation services, outpatient DVT service and it's team members. There will be strong working links with other specialist nurses, GPs and community teams. There will be an expectation to assist with training and development of policies and guidelines relating to this specialised area.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To promote and facilitate a continuous supportive anticoagulation service across the Hospital and Community setting.

To be a member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) for all aspects of anticoagulation

To act as a resource to other health care professionals who are involved in the management of anticoagulation patients.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • RN Adult or equivalent with NMC registration
  • Evidence of professional training and development and its relevance to the speciality
  • Recognised teaching /mentoring qualification or evidence of teaching experience
  • Recognised anticoagulation qualification
  • Post graduate qualification or evidence of ability to work at such a level

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within the speciality with the ability to demonstrate up-to-date evidence-based practice
  • Evidence of managing clinical change
  • Experience in an acute setting
Desirable criteria
  • Participation in audit or research

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge within anticoagulation

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good IT skills with the ability to use MS Office
  • Familiarity with the DAWN database and an ability to troubleshoot
  • English language (listening, reading, writing, speaking) proficiency at the level identified by the relevant regulatory body
