We have an exciting opportunity for a confident & compassionate Clinical Nurse Specialist.

The Eating Disorder Intensive Treatment Hub are looking for a motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist with the right skills to complement our small multidisciplinary team. 

You will work within our newly commissioned Day service and network closely with our existing community teams helping families and young people to thrive. As a new service there will be lots of opportunity for contributing to the new model of care for eating disorders in the region.

We will provide Supervision, reflective practice, training, and opportunities for professional development. We are passionate about improving standards and service user/carer experiences.

We would love to meet you if you have experience working with children and young people with eating disorders but also If you’re an experienced nurse who hasn’t worked in eating disorders before, you will have many transferable skills to bring to the role and our experienced team members can support you to grow and develop.

This role will initially be based at our Ida Darwin site in Fulbourn before relocating in approx. 12 months (date TBC) to our Brookside Family Consultation Clinic in Cambridge.

 

Main duties of the job

•    The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a clinical leader who ensures that the highest standards of evidenced based nursing care are provided. The post holder will provide inspirational specialist nursing leadership within the multi-disciplinary team, including specialist assessments and nursing interventions to young people and their families. 
•    This post is central to the delivery of clinically based support, education, training and development of the team. Working in partnership with the Team Manager and Clinical Lead the post holder will develop and embed evidence based clinical nursing practice within the team through implementation and facilitation of clinically based education, training and skills development for nurses. 
•    The CNS is a clinical specialist in Child and Adolescent mental health and is knowledgeable and skilled in leading groups and teams. The CNS will have their own area of clinical skill/interest and will provide direct clinical work within the service.
•    The CNS will work collaboratively with the leadership team and MDT to achieve service and directorate objectives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1.    To take a lead role in ensuring that a high standard of multi-disciplinary care planning is in place and to be accountable for the nursing contribution to the process. To ensure that the multi-disciplinary team provide accurate and high-quality patient records
2.    Responsibility for overseeing physical health equipment and resources and maintaining robust physical risk management plans for service users
3.    To undertake staff supervision and engage with group supervision and reflective practice.
4.    To support the team to improve their knowledge in the context of their job roles and the service. 
5.    To maintain personal and professional development by providing direct clinical work to young people and their families with appropriate evidence-based intervention e.g. FT-AN, FT-BN, CBT-E etc. 
6.    To participate and support in delivering parent/ carer and siblings psychoeducation groups and multi-family therapy. 
7.    To participate in research and audit in the clinical field
8.    To encourage and develop service user and carer involvement.
9.    To support the Directorate with the investigation process and learning lessons from serious incidents and complaints 
10.    To undertake any other duties which may reasonably be required by the service manager.  

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse Mental Health or Registered Nurse Paediatric
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification in a therapy i.e. CBT.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with Children and their parents
Desirable criteria
  • Post qualifying experience of working with eating disorders

Skills & abilities

Essential criteria
  • Strong ability to innovate and implement change
  • Skills in influencing, empowering, developing and shaping the behaviours of others.

Knowledge & Understanding

Essential criteria
  • Advanced specialist knowledge of Nursing assessment, intervention and practice models relevant to the client group
