This post is part of the growing team in dementia research within the Windsor Research Unit.

This post is a full time (37.5 hours) 18-month contract.

The role is to support recruitment and assessment of patients for research. The post-holder will undertake a key role in the emerging translational neuro-degenerative research activities being pioneered and developed by Prof Mallucci and Dr Underwood. Working in partnership with patients and families, through cognitive tests, biomarker collection and brain imaging, in local and multi-centre studies, the role is central to widening opportunities to participate in neuro-degenerative research.

The post-holder will also engage in various other research projects dependent on need and capacity. This will be negotiated with the line manager.

The post holder will assist with other relevant investigations (including brain imaging and lumbar punctures) and process samples as required; will maintain accurate patient records to the highest standard and ensure all relevant information is documented within the patients’ medical notes. The post holder will support Dementia Research Manager by undertaking delegated responsibility for the Out-Patient Clinic Room. To be responsible for day to day running of the Out-Patient Clinic Room ensuring clinical equipment is well stocked and serviced.

To identify potential participants from CPFT and CUH clinical services, community services, university and NHS databases, specialist clinics, third sector organisations, and other access routes, for CRN portfolio studies related to neuro-degeneration.

To work with the clinical teams to map the patient pathway for each trial.

Some skills include but are not limited to performing ECGs, physical examination and phlebotomy and associated processing.

To perform venepuncture, process blood samples, ensure safe and appropriate storage of specimens as outlined in study protocol.

To assist with other relevant investigations (including brain imaging and lumbar punctures) and process samples as required.

To maintain accurate patient records to the highest standard and ensure all relevant information is documented within the patients’ medical notes.
