Job overview

We are currently looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Adult ADHD Specialist Practitioners – Non-Medical Prescribers. Full and part time hours available, to join our Adult ADHD clinic, based in Cambridge.  The role includes assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of adults with ADHD. You must already be a Non-Medical Prescriber to apply.

The ideal candidates will have a strong team work ethic, sense of accountability, accompanied by an ability to work under considerable pressure at times. This post is open to professionals with the right attributes to enhance a team.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake required clinical work including initial assessment, medication initiation, review, and annual review.
  • Maintaining a visible, professional presence that patients, carers and staff can refer to for assistance, advice and support.
  • Develop strong relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including the Trust Psychological Well-being Service, Children’s Services, Single Point of Access, GP’s & Commissioners (where appropriate).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  1. To conduct ADHD Diagnostic assessments for people referred to the Adult ADHD Service. 
  2.  To practice as a supplementary/independent non-medical prescriber initiating and reviewing medication.
  3. To review with service users their response to prescribed medication in accordance with the local Adult ADHD Shared Care Agreement
  4.  To triage/screen new referrals alongside the Team Manager
  5.  To be able to communicate with and meet the needs of service users, their families, and carers as appropriate.
  6.  Provide a high level of clinical expertise in the assessment, management, and care of people with ADHD
  7. To actively participate in clinical supervision
  8.  Ensure good communication with other members of the team
  9. To work in partnership with other Trust Services and agencies to gain the best person-centred outcomes for the service user
  10.  Utilise recent research findings in the advancement of best practice and in the delivery of an evidenced based service.

Person specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered nurse or hold other relevant professional qualification and current registration appropriate to the job role
  • Independent and supplementary Non-medical prescriber
Desirable criteria
  • Post qualification continuing professional development
  • Management and or leadership qualification
  • UKAAN Course

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Considerable experience as a professional working with people with mental health needs
  • Experience in conducting initial assessments, including risk assessments, of people with mental health needs
  • Experience of working as an NMP
Desirable criteria
  • Experience as a professional working with people with ADHD
  • Evidence of delivering training
  • Experience of working with wider stakeholder groups
  • Experience in audit, research, and service evaluation work

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality care and service provision
  • Ability to demonstrate the interpersonal skills required to successfully foster partnership working relationships.
  • Evidence of the skills required for analysis and interpretation of complex facts or situations
Desirable criteria
  • Able to demonstrate ability to manage feedback, investigation of complaints, serious incidents or similar
  • Ability to produce and present clear reports

Knowledge & Understanding

Essential criteria
  • Working knowledge of appropriate assessment tools.
  • Good understanding of the effects & side effects of medication
Desirable criteria
  • Sound knowledge of local safeguarding policies and procedures

Physical Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Ability to travel independently across the geographical area of the Trust
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
