This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the multi-disciplinary Diabetes Service at Cambridge University hospital, NHS Trust. We are seeking a compassionate registered Nurse with clinical knowledge and practical experience of diabetes care . A strong interest in developing a proactive approach to the delivery of high standards of evidence-based care is essential.

You will join a multidisciplinary team to carry out nursing roles and responsibilities for people with diabetes both in an inpatient and outpatient setting. You will be required to work as a skilled practitioner assessing, implementing and evaluating treatment and care based on best evidence based clinical practice in a range of settings. The team is responsible for managing routine and urgent inpatient ward referrals and providing both opportunistic and organised education to health care professionals. There will also be the opportunity to train up in the delivery of structured education courses for people living with diabetes. You will be expected to train up and support people in the use of hybrid closed loop insulin pump technologies. The service provides a number of routine and specialist outpatient clinics including, Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes clinics, preconception, antenatal, insulin pump therapy, multidisciplinary foot, Severe insulin resistance, MODY and young adult clinics.

This is a progression post and progression to Band 7 will be offered when competencies are met.
