Due to maternity leave, an exciting opportunity an opportunity has arisen for a Preterm birth and Fetal Medicine Midwife to join the team for as 12-month secondment/ fixed term contract.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated, experienced clinical midwife who focuses on the provision of leadership and clinical advice to support and promote excellence in safe, evidenced based practice.
The postholder will co-ordinate the care for service users during screening/ diagnosis of fetal anomaly and/or high-risk pregnancy. They will work collaboratively with the lead Consultants for preterm birth and fetal medicine, supporting the development of the service and training of the multidisciplinary team.
The main duties of the job include triaging of referrals to appropriate care pathways, contributing to MDT reviews, counselling of service users and providing care that adheres to local and national guidance.

Main duties of the job
Applications are welcome from NMC registrants who are highly motivated, organised and passionate about providing safe, quality evidence-based care to the Women/birthing people who use our Maternity services.
Fetal Medicine is the branch of medicine that provides care for the fetus (or fetuses) and Woman/Maternity Service User. This includes the wellbeing, diagnosis and management of fetal complications and abnormalities as well as counselling and support for the Woman/Maternity Service User and their family.
Alongside this the post holder will also support the multidisciplinary team (MDT) providing outpatient care and advice to those Women/Birthing People who are at high risk of premature labour and support with the vision and embedding of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle Version Three (SBLCBV3).
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of services and component parts of the national pregnancy screening programme. The post holder is responsible for the coordination of the fetal medicine and preterm birth services within the hospital, community setting and maintaining open lines of communication with the local tertiary centre.
The postholder will provide clinical expertise, professional direction and leadership to midwives and maternity support worker in the maternity unit.

Main duties and responsibilities
Close working relationship with the Antenatal and Newborn Screening Coordinator to ensure systems are in place for the quality assurance of all Antenatal and Newborn Screening programmes, including collation of data and publication for the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and preparation for all PHE Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) screening programme and external quality assurance meetings and visits.
To ensure that the provision and continuing effectiveness of the fetal medicine and preterm services are in line with national and local guidance.
Managerial and Leadership Responsibilities
To lead and manage the day-to-day coordination of the fetal medicine and pre-term birth clinics, ensuring an efficient and effective service within the resources available including the supervision and development of staff, monitoring the teaching and assessing of students gaining experience in the clinics.
Coordinate the smooth running of the fetal medicine and preterm birth clinics alongside the lead Obstetric Consultants.
Responsibility for Policy and Service Development
Training
To keep updated and attend mandatory training.
To support the ANNB team to facilitate training for colleagues on mandatory training days in relation to fetal medicine and preterm birth.
Administrative Management
Ensure the security and confidentiality of patient information is always maintained.
Produce high quality documentation in the agreed timescale to support staff by using appropriate software.
Professional
Always ensure that duties are carried out in a safe manner in order to maintain a high standard of midwifery practice for all women and their babies by:
o Being responsible for maintaining PREPP requirements.
o Being conversant with all documentation issued by NMC.

- Registered Midwife
- Degree in Midwifery.
- ENB 997/998 or equivalent/mentorship qualification.
- Demonstrable evidence of continuing professional education and development as per NMC requirements.
