The Safeguarding Practitioner is an experienced specialist practitioner with in-depth knowledge of adults at risk and child protection and advanced analytical skills for safeguarding acquired through specialist courses and experiential learning from interagency work.
Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
The main purpose of this post is to primarily work with the Safeguarding Childrens function of the team however there is an aspiration for practitioners to be able to work across both adult and children’s functions in the future.
The adult and children’s safeguarding teams are based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital but have responsibility for working with acute and community services provided, which will therefore require travel trustwide.
This post will work within a bigger team in order to provide:
- expert advice and support for colleagues in relation to safeguarding adults and child protection concerns
- safeguarding adults and child protection training for all colleagues
- safeguarding adults and child protection supervision for colleagues
- effective communication channels with the Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Adults and Children's boards
- robust internal policies and guidelines for safeguarding adults.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

- NMC Registered Nurse/RMN/RNLD, Registered Social worker or Registered HCPC AHP.
- Relevant degree or working towards or demonstrate equivalent in experience and knowledge
- Experience working with adults at risk and/or children
- Experience of delivering training.
EXPERIENCE

- Experience of working in a clinical area in community or acute as a Band 6 or 7 with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in that grade.
- Knowledge of local and national guidance and research in relation to Safeguarding Adults and children
- Knowledge of legal framework and of political and policy changes affecting Safeguarding Adults and children
- Knowledge of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Mental Capacity Act, Liberty of Protection Safeguards and associated health and social care legislation.
- Knowledge of data protection and NHS code of confidentiality.
- Experience of working with safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Experience with close liaison with multi–disciplinary teams and multiagency staff.
- Experience of delivering and receiving safeguarding supervision.
- Awareness and understanding of the wider health and safety, clinical risk, and quality issues. Awareness and understanding of equality and diversity.
- Evidence of managing clinical incidents and /or complaints.
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

- Ability to initiate and conduct audits and develop action plans for the purpose of monitoring and improving child protection practices within the Trust.
- IT Literacy skills sufficient to produce reports, conduct research and communicate via e-mail
- Ability to facilitate learning in others using a variety of methods

- Experience in producing clear and concise reports to convey information fully and accurately to enable effective multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working for the purpose of safeguarding children
