You have the opportunity to join our fantastic and friendly Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) family as a healthcare support worker – no previous experience needed.

These are great opportunities for candidates who are looking to step into healthcare for the first time, or for those who are already in healthcare and want to work for an NHS Trust. Healthcare Support Workers play a crucial role in all aspects of care delivery for our patients.  

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a team of dedicated professionals who you will learn from on the job, we provide training to ensure you have the skills for the role and offer development opportunities to realise your career potential.  You will be enrolled onto a healthcare support worker induction programme held each month, ensuring you feel supported as you take the first steps into your new career. 

Our ward operate a 24-hour shift rotation across a 7-day service. Day shifts typically start at 07:00-19:30 depending on the ward, and night shifts are vice versa.

Assessment: You will be required to undertake an assessment, that should take approx 15 minutes.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • Functional Skills in English and Maths, (Level1 or equivalent) at interview assessment, or GCSE A to G
Desirable criteria
  • Care National Care Certificate Certificate in healthcare (Level 3)
  • Level 2 or Level 3 In Health and Social Care Subject (or willingness to work towards)

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Understands nature of the HCSW role and responsibilities
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a customer focused environment
  • Evidence of working as a member of a team
  • Previous experience in a health care environment

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Ability to write clearly and legibly in English
  • Ability to use a computer
  • Ability to communicate in English clearly and concisely with patients, carers and the multi-disciplinary team
  • Courteous with patients and others both internal and external
  • Understands concept of Confidentiality and standards of conduct and care
  • Willingness to undertake the Health and Social Care level 3 apprenticeship
