Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Plastic Specialist Dressings Nurse in the outpatient team based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

Main duties of the job
- To provide Outpatients a plastics dressing clinic focused on patient assessment, management, advise and monitoring.
- To actively participate in educational interventions to patients encouraging holistic patient care.
- To provide specialist nursing contribution and professional advice to the clinical management of patients wounds, to patients and other health professionals
- To liaise with the clinicians both Plastic Surgeons and other specialities who refer patients to the clinic regarding the appropriate management of individual patients
- Documentation of all actions and conversations from the clinic, using evolve
- Management of discharges and decisions to follow up using Medway.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree in related field (or equivalent experience)
- RN (adult)
Desirable criteria
- Completion of appropriate management and leadership programme
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively communicate on the telephone and face to face in English
- Managerial and leadership ability
- Knowledge of plastics dressings
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of health and safety issues and policies
- Experience in researching improvements and developments in desired field.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of teaching Trained Nurses, Health Care assistants and students
- Experience in wound care and plastic dressings
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in an outpatient setting.
