Job overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for a band 6 nurse to join our evolving Emergency Department Team.

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is one of the largest acute and community Trusts in the West Midland.

We have been rated as GOOD during our recent CQC inspection.

This band 6 role provides a real opportunity to develop leadership skills, clinical skills and knowledge base within the Emergency Services Directorate. We are looking for nurses who are pursuing a new challenge who hold experience in either an Emergency Department or significant acute medical experience.

Main duties of the job

The Emergency Department is exceptionally busy and currently has circa 153,000 annual attendees. An understanding of the importance of maintaining patient flows through the hospital is pivotal to this role. Are you ready to embrace the new ways of working within our innovative department including the purpose built rapid assessment area and working partnerships between acute physicians and emergency consultants.  The Urgent and Emergency Care Centre offers one entry portal for all of our acute admissions and an enlarged clinical decisions unit with an Ambulatory Emergency Care facility. We are fortunate enough to have a specialist Childrens area built to the highest specification and having its own 2 bedded high care area.

We are looking for caring, compassionate nurses to work in this emergency care setting with a minimum of 18 months acute care experience. The individual we want would be committed to sustaining and improving our patient pathways, good clinical skills and be able to act as a professional role model supported by the National Curriculum and Competency Framework for Emergency Nursing.

We’re passionate about the value that diversity of thinking and lived experience brings in enabling us to become a learning organisation and leader in delivering compassionate care for our patients.
