Are you a Registered Mental Health/Childrens/Learning Disability nurse who is interested in CAMHS inpatient services? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated, team player to apply for a Staff Nurse post within the CAMHS inpatient service for young people with complex mental health needs.

We currently have two wards open- an Eating Disorders Unit and a General Adolescent Unit. A third ward will be opening this year, for the provision of intensive care patients. The post holder will work on one of the 3 Inpatient CAMHS wards located at Parkview Clinic in Moseley, with the potential to move across areas depending on service need.

The CAMHS inpatient team is multidisciplinary including psychiatry, nursing, psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and dieticians. The post holder will be part of a growing team of clinicians with a special interest and expertise in working with young people, who are presenting with complex psychiatric and emotional disorder.

The staff nurse will join the inpatient nursing team and wider MDT in delivering high standards of clinical care and treatment for young people, working as a named nurse and a shift coordinator. They will also take part in team and service development, audit and quality improvement projects, and develop interest in specific link roles.

The role will give you the chance to learn about the clinical aspects of a CAMHS inpatient team.

Why does this job exist?

The staff nurse role on the inpatient units plays a lead part in the delivery of care and treatment to our patients. Working alongside the multidisciplinary team providing the care and treatment as required within their identified care pathway.

The staff nurse role includes taking the role of named nurse for allocated patients, taking charge of the ward when competent to do so. The support and direction of tasks to junior colleagues and supporting the learning and development of student nurses who train with us in the service.

Making assessment of risk and dependency and developing care plans from metal health assessment.

  • Working knowledge of the NMC code of professional conduct
