Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated nurse or midwife who has a sound  knowledge of the safeguarding adult agenda.

You will be well supported by a an experienced and highly regarded team and you will have an opportunity to further develop your safeguarding skills and knowledge.  

You will work in the Safeguarding Adult Team and in close partnership with the Safeguarding Children Team and the newly formed Complex Vulnerabilities Team,  providing support and guidance to staff across the Trust  in all matters pertaining to Safeguarding Adults.

Main duties of the job

The Associate Nurse for Safeguarding will work closely with the Head of Safeguarding and Safeguarding Team members to:  

  • Ensure that The Trust meets its statutory obligation to safeguard and promote the welfare of all adults who access services from any hospital site within the Trust.  

  • Actively participate in all Safeguarding Training delivery for Safeguarding Adults training and PREVENT / WRAP, across all levels to all Trust staff, including provision of bespoke training and supporting the Safeguarding Team with safeguarding training development and review  

  • Support the Safeguarding Team in the development and delivery of quality assurance processes, audits and report writing in accordance with The Safeguarding Adult agenda.  

  • Support the Safeguarding Team in all aspects of the multi-agency Safeguarding Adult Agenda, as deemed appropriate. This may include deputising within forums and meetings as deemed appropriate.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with current/active NMC registration
  • Educated to 1st Degree level or equivalent
  • Teaching and assessing qualification or relevant experience
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding guidelines, legislation, policy and practice
  • Good understanding and knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Sound knowledge of the domestic abuse agenda
  • Good understanding of trauma informed practice and Think Family agenda
Desirable criteria
  • Safeguarding Supervision Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of managing adult safeguarding issues and providing advice to staff and other agencies
  • Experience of working with complex adult safeguarding cases, making referrals and analysing risk
  • Experience of working with complex families and challenging situations including issues such as self-neglect
  • Experience of undertaking audit and benchmarking and developing and undertaking actions to improve practice
